I recently blogged about switching web hosts. 6 weeks into it, I'm still pretty happy with Hostgator, they're a lot more Drupal-friendly, even with the cheapest hosting package (which is cheaper than Powweb). I've had a couple reliability issues, and they say that's what you get on a shared server, but Hostgator still advertises 99.99% uptime and I haven't been getting that in the past couple weeks. And it freaked out a client, which is not cool.

Royal Wedding: The Outfits
koppie — Sat, 04/30/2011 - 01:20
Yes, I'm going to talk about the royal wedding. The outfits, no less. I'm more interested in the men's uniforms, of course, but first a tip of the hat has to go to Princess Kate's dress, which was an obvious homage to American actress Grace Kelly, who also married into European royalty. In another apparent homage to the United States, Kate had a Maid of Honor, which apparently isn't usually done in England. Classy.

I've been busy. Koplowicz.com is now hosting two new sites.
New feature: Email subscription!
koppie — Sun, 11/07/2010 - 22:25
Don't want to bother checking my site every couple of weeks, waiting for that unreliable new post? Now you don't have to - just subscribe by email! There's a handy block on the right side of the page.
Credit for this feature goes to Karsten; I saw it on his blog.
If you're interested in the technical side of all this, read on. If you're not, then this post is done.
First Day at Work
koppie — Thu, 10/21/2010 - 12:05
I got a job! It's only temporary, part time, and it's not legal work. But it's a start.
I've had a pretty long dry spell, like a lot of people in the country right now. (Even lawyers from top tier schools. I've heard stories.) Yelena & I are lucky that we've been able to stay afloat, and even live pretty comfortably compared to a lot of people out there. Naturally, Yelena gets a huge amount of credit for working so hard. So naturally I'm exciting to have anything right now.
My Weekend: Nathan the Reenactor, Daddy the Company Commander, and a 9/11 Moment
koppie — Tue, 09/14/2010 - 01:05
Nathan attended his second reenactment this weekend and he did great. Part of it is that he's an easy-going guy who likes people (and they like him). Part of it is I think the open spaces and fresh air are good for him (especially since he's growing up in a large city - something I never had to do). Part of it is that reenacting is fun. And part of it is our wonderful Camp Mom Judy and her daughter Rebecca, both of whom spent a lot of time watching Nathan so Daddy could go lead troops in drill and battle. Big thanks to both Adams girls.

I'm on a Boat!

Everything is going great so far. We had our first stop in Cabo San Lucas, mostly famous as a place college students go to on spring break. This is my first trip to Mexico (since I was old enough to remember). Although Yelena's been to Mexico multiple times, she's never been to Cabo. Both of us were rather disgusted by the town; it's very clean and all the buildings are brand new and freshly painted and there are cops everywhere, but you still don't feel safe.
